WORKING WITH ACTORS, FINDING THE BEHAVIOR "YOU'RE TRYING TO GET HER TO LIKE YOU."

Our dear family friend Jordan Stone, Producer/Director and International 1st AD for Sofia Coppola's "Somewhere" sent me this today. It's striking to me, an educator in this field, how clearly this brief exchange between Director and Actor, on the set, captures the essence and simplicity of working with actors; when a Director can communicate with actors in terms of what the characters want, and what they do to get it.

It's the universal language of Drama.

The preparation it takes to get there, is another matter.
