Dalia Salvi: Do you have a final comment, for directors in particular?

Mark Rydell: Directors often make the mistake of thinking the words are everything. On a number of occasions Elia Kazan has said, "Dialogue is decoration on the skirts of action." What you have to do is find out what you are doing in the scene and many, many directors don't know about that.
